Broccoli Manchurian


Ingredients..............

For batter............

Broccoli Florets- 9-12

  1. Plain flour- 5tbs
  2. Corn starch/ potato starch- 2tbsp
  3. Black pepper crushed- 1tbsp
  4. Chili flakes/red chili powder- 1tbsp
  5. salt to taste
  6. Ginger paste- 1tbsp
  7. Garlic paste- 1tbsp
  8. Vegetable oil for deep fry- 1cup
For sauce............
  1. Honey- 1tbsp
  2. Tomato Ketchup-2tbsp
  3. Hot sauce- 2tbsp
  4. Vinegar- 5tbsp
  5. Soy sauce- 4tbsp
  6. Starch- 1tbsp
  7. Water -1/2 cup
  8. Chopped onion- 1
  9. Chopped green chili- 3
  10. Grated ginger- 1tbsp
  11. Grated garlic- 1/2 tbsp
  12. Oil- 4tbsp
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Spring onion for garnishing
Method.................

  • Wash the broccoli florets, ccombine together the: plainflour, corn/potato starch, chili powder/flacks, salt, black pepper and water as needed. mix well and prepare a semi thick coating batter out of it.

Heat the oil in a frying pan. Dip the broccoli one by one in the batter and deep fry. Drain when golden brown. Set aside.


Heat the wok add 2 tablespoons of oil . Add the chopped onions, ginger, garlic and green chillies. Fry for ½ minute. Add the 1/2 cup water and then add soy sauce, honey, vinegar, hot extra chili sauce and salt. Simmer uncovered for 1 minute.


Add the corn /potato starch 1/2 tbsp then add fried broccoli and stir continuously, so that the sauce becomes thick. Add the fried broccoli florets just before serving. Garnish with spring onion tops.

Broccoli Manchurian is ready to serve .
